Little known facts have always intrigued me. And while on nature quests with my kids i’m often blown away by all the things I was “sure” about that aren’t actually true. Below are 3 surprising facts you’ll want to share with your kids…

Airplane Pose (Warrior III / Virabhadrasana III)
Did you know that November is Aviation History Month? It’s estimated that there are 39,000 planes currently on the planet, and some 150,000 throughout history - that’s a lot of planes! It’s incredible to think that over a century ago, in 1903, the first airplane took flight - so wild! We’ve certainly come a long way since …

Hey Families,
From Justin Trudeau to my best friend, everyone around me is speaking of doom and gloom for this winter ahead. And for a person who normally LOVES winter, it’s really getting my stomach all up in knots.
For the past 4 days I have been asking myself over and over and over again: “How are we going to get through this winter?”
We live in a SMALL space, the four of us. This summer we cleared out our belongings like no other, abandoning things left right and centre to make more space to exist during this winter ahead. And now it feels like there was no point. This winter is going to be DARK, no matter how much space we have or don’t have.
But I have HOPE. Somewhere. A little..

Did you know that October 24th is Make a Difference Day? 🌍
It's a day to make this big wide world of ours a little kinder by helping others - helping neighbours, helping family, helping friends, helping our global community! We know it's been a little more difficult to find those acts of kindness lately since we haven't been able to give the traditional hugs and high fives to everyone, but this week in the Virtual Studio we're sharing our favourite ways to help others in these trying times. A simple gesture can go a long way, and it’s never too early to start teaching our little ones the difference a little kindness can make!
Here are a few of our favourites:
🖐🏾 smile at others with your eyes
🖐🏼 phone or write a letter to a friend or family member
🖐🏿 help a snail or worm across the sidewalk
🖐🏽 draw a picture and post it in your window
🖐🏻 leave a little water bowl out for passing dogs and cats
🖐️ offer to take your neighbour's dog for a walk, pick up some groceries for them, or run another errand
It’s in these unprecedented times that we tend to keep to ourselves and turn inward when what we could really use is a helping hand and to lean in for some community support. With things slowing down, both with the seasons and the pandemic restrictions (at least here in the GTA), let’s not forget about the difference that kindness makes both for ourselves and for others, and make a point to help our fellow human beings when we can. I’ve been finding a lot of joy in the little things lately - going for walks with a friend, helping my Mom repot her plants, sharing and supporting local businesses - and it’s kept me going. It’s been in these times that I’ve seen more kindness than I think I have in a long time - strangers saying hello, people being patient and courteous, neighbours giving away clothing and items to those in need. It’s been a strange time, and I’m not going to say it’s all rose-coloured, but I’m certainly going to try my best to continue to share and spread that kindness as we move into the colder, darker part of the year.
Appleseed is celebrating this special day by recently adding Infant Yoga, All Ages Meditations, 15-Minute Seed Classes for Preschoolers, French Kids Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Restorative Yoga for Grown-Ups to our Virtual Studio! We know the difference a little breath and movement can make, and we hope you can join us and soak up these little acts of kindness with your family and our (virtual) community. Just a gentle reminder that our monthly rate is increasing on November 1st, so don't delay ❤️
Thank you for your continued support, Appleseed Families, and let us know how we can better support you and your families this Fall and Winter.
Sending love and hugs,
Megan & Sara

Pose of the Summer: FROG 🐸
Frog Pose (Malasana/Mandukasana)
The nature documentaries in our home are getting a little out of hand. My son walks into a room nowadays and says: "Do you know how many king cobra bites kill people in India every year?" or “Mom, do you know how many lions it takes to take down a cape buffalo?”
We’ve seen docs on every big cat imaginable, elephants, bears, penguins, ants, moose, kangaroos, wolves, and we watched one recently on frogs. Until the last few docs, my partner would watch with the boys so I could steal away for a little work time, but during FROGS I couldn’t leave. Ten minutes in I HAD to…
