Did you know that October 24th is Make a Difference Day? π
It's a day to make this big wide world of ours a little kinder by helping others - helping neighbours, helping family, helping friends, helping our global community! We know it's been a little more difficult to find those acts of kindness lately since we haven't been able to give the traditional hugs and high fives to everyone, but this week in the Virtual Studio we're sharing our favourite ways to help others in these trying times. A simple gesture can go a long way, and itβs never too early to start teaching our little ones the difference a little kindness can make!
Here are a few of our favourites:
ππΎ smile at others with your eyes
ππΌ phone or write a letter to a friend or family member
ππΏ help a snail or worm across the sidewalk
ππ½ draw a picture and post it in your window
ππ» leave a little water bowl out for passing dogs and cats
ποΈ offer to take your neighbour's dog for a walk, pick up some groceries for them, or run another errand
Itβs in these unprecedented times that we tend to keep to ourselves and turn inward when what we could really use is a helping hand and to lean in for some community support. With things slowing down, both with the seasons and the pandemic restrictions (at least here in the GTA), letβs not forget about the difference that kindness makes both for ourselves and for others, and make a point to help our fellow human beings when we can. Iβve been finding a lot of joy in the little things lately - going for walks with a friend, helping my Mom repot her plants, sharing and supporting local businesses - and itβs kept me going. Itβs been in these times that Iβve seen more kindness than I think I have in a long time - strangers saying hello, people being patient and courteous, neighbours giving away clothing and items to those in need. Itβs been a strange time, and Iβm not going to say itβs all rose-coloured, but Iβm certainly going to try my best to continue to share and spread that kindness as we move into the colder, darker part of the year.
Appleseed is celebrating this special day by recently adding Infant Yoga, All Ages Meditations, 15-Minute Seed Classes for Preschoolers, French Kids Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Restorative Yoga for Grown-Ups to our Virtual Studio! We know the difference a little breath and movement can make, and we hope you can join us and soak up these little acts of kindness with your family and our (virtual) community. Just a gentle reminder that our monthly rate is increasing on November 1st, so don't delay β€οΈ
Thank you for your continued support, Appleseed Families, and let us know how we can better support you and your families this Fall and Winter.
Sending love and hugs,
Megan & Sara
