What Kelly wants for the next generation:
Dear kids I do not know yet,
My greatest hope is that you can clearly hear the words of your heart. And to do this, you will need to find all of the different ways this world lights you up inside.
I hope you explore.
I hope you create.
I hope you read and continue to ask why.
I hope you make friends that make you laugh from the very bottom of your bellies and I hope you fall in love over and over again. With people, places, food, fashion, friendship and big bold ideas that can change the world.
I hope you dance. Even when everybody is watching. Your body was made to move and it will keep your heart alive. Through movement we can find stillness and when our minds become still, we are more likely to hear all of the things that our bodies and hearts are trying to say.
I hope you use all five senses to bring your world to life. Please take time to eat, to smell, to taste, to dream, to wander, to touch, to feel, to climb, to play and always above anything else, to listen. Listen as intently as I hope the world listens to you.
My greatest hope for you, kids I do not know yet, is that you feel so intimately connected to yourself, to each other and to the world around you that you never second guess your right to be here or which way you should go next.
You are the only compass you get, but I know that if you listen intently to the words of your heart you will burn bright and continue to light the way.
Love,
Kelly
