How to do Butterfly Pose:
Start seated, tall and grounded. Bend your knees and draw them in towards your chest. Place the bottoms of your feet together, and allow your knees to fall open like butterfly wings opening on a beautiful flower.
You can stay seated and still, flap your “wings” by lifting your legs up and down, or do the same but lying on your back - there are so many possibilities with this pose!
My favourite way to butterfly pose is in the grass, imagining I’m surrounded by a garden of beautiful flowers and butterflies!
Why do Butterfly Pose?
- Improves our hip flexibility
- Helps ease digestive woes (because we have more space in our front body!)
- Keeps our ankles, knees, and hips mobile
So still wondering how many different kinds of butterflies and moths there are?
180,000! (Penguin)
Fly little butterfly, flap your wings!
